Understanding Sync

How Sync Works

  1. Online Mode: Changes save immediately to server
  2. Offline Mode: Changes stored locally on device
  3. Sync: Local changes upload when connection restored

Common Sync Problems

Data Not Syncing

Symptoms:

  • Pending indicator persists

  1. Check internet connection

    • Verify you're online
    • Try loading a website
    • Check Wi-Fi/mobile data
  2. Force sync

    • Pull down to refresh
    • Or click sync button
    • Wait for completion

Sync Taking Too Long

Conflict Resolution

What Are Conflicts

Conflicts occur when:

  • Same data edited in two places
  • Offline changes conflict with server changes
  • Multiple users edit same item

Resolving Conflicts

When conflict detected:

  1. Review both versions

    • Your local changes
    • Server version
  2. Choose resolution

    • Keep local version
    • Keep server version
    • Merge manually
  3. Confirm

    • Selection applied
    • Conflict cleared

Preventing Conflicts

  1. Sync frequently

    • Don't stay offline too long
    • Sync before editing
  2. Coordinate with team

    • Communicate about edits
    • Avoid simultaneous changes
  3. Work on assigned items

    • Reduces overlap

Offline Mode Issues

Offline Mode Not Working

Symptoms:

  • Can't access data offline
  • App requires connection
  • Features unavailable

  1. Enable offline mode

    • Settings > Offline Mode
    • Toggle on

    • Data can't persist

Multiple Tabs Conflict

  • Different data in different tabs

  1. Use single tab

    • Multiple tabs can conflict
    • Close extras
  2. Refresh all tabs

    • After making changes
    • Sync state
  3. Close and reopen

    • Single fresh tab
    • Load latest data

Recovery Steps

If Sync Completely Fails

  1. Note pending changes

    • Screenshot if needed
    • Record what was done
  2. Log out

    • Clear local session
  3. Clear app/browser data

    • Remove cached data
    • Fresh start
  4. Log back in

    • Re-sync from server
    • Re-enter any lost changes
